Halloween is about to roll in this Friday, and many people are getting their costumes together, preparing for parties, or decorating their house for trick-or-treaters. There are many guides to make your “haunted” house a bit spookier, but did you know you can use fragrances to make that haunt more memorable? Here are some quick ways you can incorporate scent into your designs!
Scented Fog

Fog machines are a really fun way to create that mysterious and dreary atmosphere around your house and yard. Many of these companies offer different types of mechanisms for fog, including fog with different densities and different-colored fog. They also offer scented fog! These flavors range from more “standard” flavors like mint and lemon, to festive flavors like cotton candy, haunted mansion, and pumpkin spice. They can make your house smell and feel spooky or festive depending on the flavor you choose.
Potpourri

Pick up some local pinecones, scented brooms, cinnamon, and other dried plant material to add that extra flavor to your home! Potpourri has always been popular for creating a pleasant aroma in a house, but they also work as extra enhancements for a Halloween-themed environment. Plus, you can keep them after Halloween if the scents are compatible for the rest of the fall season!
Diffusers and Candles for the Home

Using diffusers and candles are a classic way to create a strong scent in your home. To align the concept with Halloween, you can put them inside pumpkin or cauldron shaped holders. One of our personal favorite ideas is to make a cauldron diffuser: all you need is a mini cauldron pot, some polyfill fiber, and an electric oil diffuser. Simply turn your diffuser on, put it in the cauldron, place the fiber on top, and watch as your cauldron “brews”.
Safety First Considerations
Although these tips create all kinds of wonderful enhancements, it’s more important to keep safety in mind. If you’re hosting guests, make sure they don’t have any allergies or sensitivities to fragrances. For trick-or-treaters, it might be a good idea to put up warning signs as well so they can be mindful. Finally, be sure to follow any installation or application instructions carefully and thoroughly. The goal is for everyone to have a good time!
We at PureAmor hope you have a Happy Halloween, and may you have a spooktacular time! We hope these tips will help you add a magical and spooky touch to your decorating.
