Lately, the windy weather has reminded me of a personal issue when it comes to maintaining my fragrance throughout the day. In today’s hustle and bustle it is very common for people to have a schedule that involves them moving from place to place. Sometimes this hectic schedule can lead to fragrance wearing off faster as movement or the weather can blow the scent away. While travel bottles do exist (we offer travel-sized ones on our website!), you may not always find the time or place to touch up your fragrance.
In order to help my fellow fragrance wearers out, allow me to share a few tips that will help you keep that scent active longer.
Spray Perfume on Clothes
Fragrances bind to fabric more easily than they do to skin, so spraying your perfume onto your clothes will help the scent last longer. One thing to note though – make sure it won’t stain your clothes by testing a small patch first!
Target Pulse Points
Pulse points are areas where blood vessels are closest to the skin, creating more natural heat that maintains the scent of the perfume. These include the wrists, the neck, behind the ears, and behind the knees. You can apply perfume to these specific areas so that the perfume stays warmer for longer. For an extra layer of protection, it helps to have clothing on top of these areas so that elements like the wind can’t dissipate the scent so easily.
Don’t Rub!
While it is tempting to rub the areas you applied fragrances to, it actually breaks down the scent molecules faster; the perfume scent will go away faster as a result. If you feel like you need to spread the perfume out, you can tap or dab the areas instead.
Hydrate Your Skin
Fragrances stick better to hydrated skin, so make sure that you regularly moisturize as part of your skincare routine! If you need a quick fix you can try applying a tiny bit of petroleum jelly or unscented lotion in the areas where you plan to apply the fragrance before spraying on the scent.
Mist Your Hair
Hair holds fragrance really well! You can apply fragrance by spritzing your hairbrush with perfume before combing through your hair to spread the scent. Alternatively, you can spray directly onto your hair from a distance. Just be careful to not spray directly on your face!
Feel free to experiment with one or more of these tips by incorporating them in your daily routine! I hope that these tips will help your scent last all day long.
