Happy October! While we’re solidly in the fall season now, there’s no lack of events in sunny San Diego this month. Here are some places where you can dress up, use those favorite aromas, and have some fun!
Oktoberfest All Around the City

Looking for a bit of German flair in your festivities? Attend one of the Oktoberfest events this month! This festival is a celebration of German culture featuring lots of beer and traditional German dishes like pretzels, bratwurst, and cheese. These events will also include activities like festive games, and costume contests. Multiple Oktoberfest events will be held throughout the month, as listed below:
The San Diego Oktoberfest Party Cruise on October 3rd will feature a cruise ride on Mission Bay, allowing partygoers to experience the beautiful views on the water. It’ll feature a steinholding contest, which is a traditional Bavarian beer drinking tradition.
The La Mesa Oktoberfest runs from October 3rd to October 5th, with three different biergartens. For younger members, the Dachshund Races are a fun event to watch and cheer on.
The Ocean Beach Oktoberfest is a festival for people aged 21 and up. It has been ongoing for 23 years and will happen on October 10th and 11th. It’ll also feature a lot of beer garden activities, contests, and live music.
San Diego Dine and Doom

Travel back in time to experience San Diego’s Prohibition history! The San Diego Dine and Doom event will take place at the San Diego History Center on October 4th. This event also encourages you to dress up and immerse yourself in the 1920’s – flapper fashion and bootlegger fits are encouraged! The perfumes of the 1920’s featured many popular floral scents, so that might be a good way to enhance your cosplay.
San Diego International Film Festival

The San Diego International Film Festival is a four day event from October 15th to October 19th. Every day features different films that you can enjoy, and many of them will premiere at this event. There will also be panels and Q&As from filmmakers, which will allow you to get answers to any questions you may have about the creative process of film making. The venues for these films will be split across a few different locations in La Jolla, allowing you to enjoy the lovely scenery of the local area. There will be food offered there as well.
Spooktacular Halloween Extravaganza

The end of the month features many events for Halloween, and the Spooktacular Halloween Extravaganza is just one of them. This is an event that has activities for children while allowing adults to kick back and relax. This event will be on October 25th and it is located at the Fairmont Grand Del Mar.
These are just some of the events we decided to feature but there are many more events this month that give you an opportunity to go out and have fun. You can try and experiment with a new scent, or stick with something familiar and comforting. Regardless, there are many opportunities to jazz up during October!
